Alonzo Mourning Receives Prestigious AOE Honor
McDonald’s All American Games Advisory Council Captain and former NBA star, Alonzo Mourning, will be named a Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Awards of Excellence recipient for his outstanding contributions to improve the lives of children.
Alonzo Mourning will be one of four individuals from across the globe honored during the 25th Annual Awards of Excellence Celebration in Rosemont Illinois on November 7, 2009. Upon receiving this prestigious award, Mourning will be awarded a $100,000 grant to donate to a charity of his choice.
Mourning is the founder of Alonzo Mourning Charities, a not-for-profit public fundraising foundation, whose vision is to inspire through advocacy, education and enrichment services. He also continues to serve as Advisory Council Captain for the McDonald’s All American Games, donating his good will and reputation to promote the Games and help rising stars of tomorrow build a lasting legacy of good sportsmanship and charity. With the help of former all-stars like Mourning, the All American Games have raised millions of dollars for RMHC and its network of local Chapters since its inception in 1978.
